John has over 25 years international experience in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, including as a CEO. He has managed and developed businesses and operations globally in the blue-chip and SME sectors. Having been involved in significant mergers & acquisitions and IPO activity, he is familiar with fund raising and the management of early-stage businesses.

Dr. Steve Beasley 

 

Steve has over 25 years experience gained from global pharmaceutical, biotechnology and chemical companies in both research and commercial fields. He was previously COO for De Novo Pharmaceuticals responsible for all research and commercial activity and most recently Chief Executive of the knowledgebase organisation, bioKneX. He is a Chartered Chemist, a Member of the Institute of Directors and Member of the Institute of Knowledge Transfer.

As financial director of UMIST Ventures Limited and advisor to a number of start-up ventures at UMIST, John's familiarity with the unique demands of rapidly growing high-technology businesses brings valuable skills and experience to Gentronix.

Scientific Director and CSO

Prof. Richard Walmsley

 

Richard is the founder and CSO of Gentronix. Richard also holds the position of Professor of Genetics at the University Manchester.

Director - North Amercian Operations

Dorothy Zelent

 

Dorothy has a background in molecular biotechnology with over 10 years experience in academic and pharmaceutical research. Dorothy graduated from the University of Pennsylvania where she also conducted research into diabetes drug discovery, and joined GlaxoSmithKline as a senior scientist in cardiovascular drug discovery.   Dorothy has latterly worked in project management and as Director of Business Development in a number of clinical research technology companies.

European Sales Director

 Simon Johns

 

Simon trained in microbiology and genetics and has over 20 years international commercial experience supporting clients in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and chemical sectors.  His early research activities involved the development of genotoxicity imaging systems, and more recently he has worked extensively within the preclinical toxicology sector for several major CROs based in Europe and the USA, providing support to clients around the world.

Dr. Andrew Knight

 

Andrew qualified in the fields of analytical chemistry and toxicology. Andrew manages the integration of Gentronix's existing and developing science and technology with commercial activities, and coordinates customer relations, service contracts and technical support.

Research and Development Manager

Dr. Nick Billinton

 

Nick’s background is a blend of biochemistry, genetics and biotechnology.  As one of the founding members of Gentronix, he has extensive experience in leading a scientific team of assay developers.  Nick project plans and manages the company’s research and development projects, which continue to spawn new products and services.

Laboratory Manager

Paul Cahill

 

Paul trained as a biochemist and medical histologist and has been with Gentronix for 9 years. Paul oversees all aspects of GreenScreen product formulation and production along with managing the company's laboratory facilities and implementing the company’s Health and Safety policy.

Louise Birrell


Louise has 10 years technical experience gained in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries both in the UK and Europe and has been with Gentronix for 5 years.  Louise manages the company’s in-house contract testing facility and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the service from compound receipt to report delivery.
